The Chevrolet Avalanche 1500 Base for 2005
There have been several award-winning trucks from Chevrolet over the years, including the Chevrolet Avalanche 1500 of 2005. There are five trim levels to the Avalanche 1500, including Base, Z66, Z71, LS, and LT. The Base version is one of the more popular options, outselling other configurations. Like in 2004 the popular 5.3 liter Vortec has made this a popular choice for crew cab pickup buyers nationwide.
2005 Chevrolet Avalanche 1500 Base Specs
The restyled Avalanche 1500 Base is equipped with a 5.3-liter eight-cylinder engine that utilizes 16 valves. The Vortec engine is mated to a General Motors four-speed transmission. This has resulted in an increase in horsepower and torque over the 2004 version.
The fuel system for the 2005 Avalanche 1500 is a SFI design, running on FLEX fuel. The FLEX is handled by an electronic system and is a fuel-injected MFI design. The capacity of the fuel tank is 31.00 gallons.
The Avalanche 1500 uses power-assisted brakes, with 4-Wheel ABS support. The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are disc. Steering is handled through a power-steering gear-style configuration. The truck uses torsion bar and coil springs front and rear respectively.
Avalanche 1500 Base Statistics
The dimensions of the Avalanche 1500 Base are 79.80 inches wide by 221.60 inches long. It sits a comfortable 73.60 inches off the ground. It seats a standard six passengers, with 4 doors. The wheelbase of 130.00 allows for limited leg room for the backseat passengers.
The original manufacturer suggested retail price (MSRP) was $34,010 when new, with a dealer invoice cost of $29,759. This price was in line with the industry average price for a 4-door Crew Cab Pickup.
The standard warranty period for the Avalanche 1500 is 36 months, or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first. This is standard in the crew cab pickup market.
Fuel Efficiency
The Avalanche 1500 Base received a miles-per-gallon rating of fourteen in-city driving and nineteen when it came to long-distance. Being a flex-powered hybrid truck, this was subpar.
Conclusion
The 2004 model began the promise of the Chevrolet Avalanche 1500. The 2005 expanded on this success and has proven to be a strong seller in most markets. Even with strong competition from other manufacturers Chevrolet hopes that the Avalanche 1500 Base will continue to be a profitable vehicle.
