Insight Into the Ford Taurus for 2002

Ford has been blessed with many award-winning designs, including the Ford Taurus of 2002. There are four trim levels to the Taurus, including LX, SE, SE 2-Valve, and SE 4-Valve. The LX version is one of the more popular options. Like in 2001 the popular 3.0 liter Vulcan has made this a popular choice for sedan buyers around the world.
Engine Performance
The Taurus LX is equipped with a Ford 3.0 liter six-cylinder engine that utilizes 12 valves. The Vulcan engine is mated to a Ford 4-speed Transaxle. This configuration has proven to be a successful design for Ford.
The Taurus uses power-assisted brakes, with Non-ABS support. The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are drum. Steering is handled through a power-steering rack-style configuration. The car uses coil and coil springs front and rear respectively.
Taurus LX Statistics
The Taurus is 197.60 inches long, 73.00 inches wide, and 56.10 inches high. It has a wheelbase of 108.50 inches. It is able to seat 5 comfortably.
The listed retail price in 2002 (MSRP) was $21,960, with an invoice cost of $20,139. This price is slightly higher than the industry average price for a four-door Sedan.
Fuel Efficiency
The fuel system for the 2002 Taurus is a SFI design, running on FLEX fuel. The fuel flow is regulated by a electronic system and is a fuel-injected MFI design. The storage capacity of the fuel tank is 18.00 gallons.
The 2002 Taurus gets 27 - 28 miles/gallon on the highway and only 20 in the city. This is average for a sedan car.
In Summary
The 2001 model began the promise of the Ford Taurus. The 2002 expanded on this success and has proven to be a strong seller in most markets. Even with strong competition from other manufacturers Ford hopes that the Taurus LX will continue to be a profitable vehicle.
