There's been a lot of talk about the Ford Taurus for 2001. As a leading car in the wagon market the Taurus (and in this case specically the SE version) has maintained a high standard. The 4-door Taurus is especially appealing to broad audience, making it a perfect car to help Ford as a brand in general.

The Taurus SE is equipped with a Ford 3.0 liter six-cylinder engine that utilizes 12 valves. The Vulcan engine is mated to a Ford 4-speed Transaxle. This configuration has proven to be a successful design for Ford.

The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are disc. Steering is handled through a power-steering rack-style configuration. The Taurus uses power-assisted brakes, with Non-ABS support. Load balancing is provided by coil front springs and coil in the rear.

The listed retail price in 2001 (MSRP) was $19,325, with a dealer invoice cost of $17,868. This price is in line with the industry average price for a four-door Wagon.

Fuel Efficiency

The fuel system for the 2001 Taurus is a traditional SFI, running on FLEX fuel. The fuel is controlled by an electronic system and is a fuel-injected MFI design. The capacity of the fuel tank is 18.00 gallons.

The 2001 Taurus gets 28 miles/gallon on the highway and only 19 in the city. This is below average for a wagon car.
