A lot has been said about the Ford Taurus for 2000. As Ford's entry in the sedan market the Taurus (and in this case specically the SE 2-Valve version) has maintained a solid reputation. The 4-door Taurus is especially appealing to wide market segment, making it a perfect car to help Ford as a brand in general.

Engine Performance

The Taurus SE 2-Valve is equipped with a Ford 3.0 liter six-cylinder engine that utilizes 12 valves. The Vulcan engine is mated to a Ford 4-speed Transaxle. This configuration has proven to be a successful design for Ford.

The Taurus uses power-assisted brakes, with 4-Wheel ABS support. The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are drum. Steering is handled through a power-steering rack-style configuration. The car uses coil and coil springs front and rear respectively.

The Taurus is 197.60 inches long, 73.00 inches wide, and 56.10 inches high. It has a wheelbase of 108.50 inches. It is able to seat 5 comfortably.

The original manufacturer suggested retail price (MSRP) was $18,935 when new, with a dealer invoice cost of $17,232. This price was in line with the industry average price for a 4-door Sedan.

Fuel Efficiency

Fuel is handled for the Taurus is a SFI design, running on FLEX fuel. The FLEX is handled by an electronic system and is a fuel-injected MFI design. The capacity of the fuel tank is 18.00 gallons.

The 2000 Taurus gets 28 miles/gallon on the highway and only 19 in the city. This is average for a sedan car.

There are several reasons why the Ford Taurus SE 2-Valve sold well in 2000. Mainly the increase in availability and a marked improvement in quality meant the buying public was more apt to choose a Ford, specifically a Taurus.
