There's been a lot of talk about the Ford Ranger for 1998. As a leading truck in the standard cab pickup market the Ranger (and in this case specically the EV version) has maintained a high standard. The 2-door Ranger is especially appealing to broad audience, making it a perfect truck to help Ford as a brand in general.

Standard equipment in the Ranger for 1997 and 1998 includes the unrated liter engine by Siemens, weighing in at 6 cylinders and twelve valves. A 4-speed Manual transmission puts the power of the engine to the pavement. The has proven to be a popular configuration for the Ranger.

The Ranger uses power-assisted brakes, with 4-Wheel ABS support. The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are disc. Steering is handled through a power-steering rack-style configuration. The truck uses coil and leaf springs front and rear respectively.

The dimensions of the Ranger EV are 69.40 inches wide by 200.70 inches long. It sits 64.90 inches off the ground. It seats a standard three passengers, with 2 doors. The wheelbase of 117.50 allows for extra leg room for the rear passengers.

The original manufacturer suggested retail price (MSRP) was $11,955 when new, with a dealer invoice cost of $11,359. This price was in line with the industry average price for a 2-door Standard Cab Pickup.

Fuel Efficiency

The fuel system for the 1998 Ranger is a OEM system, running on ELECTRIC . The fuel is regulated by an system and is a Fuel Injected design.

The Ranger EV received a miles-per-gallon rating of 17 - 22 in-city driving and 22 - 27 when it came to highway driving. Being a electric-powered green truck, this was within normal parameters.

The 1997 model began the promise of the Ford Ranger. The 1998 expanded on this success and has proven to be a strong seller in most markets. Even with strong competition from other manufacturers Ford hopes that the Ranger EV will continue to be a profitable vehicle.
