Our Take on the 2009 Toyota Camry Hybrid

Toyota Camry

Standard equipment in the Camry for 2008 and 2009 includes the 2.4 liter engine by Toyota, weighing in at 4 cylinders and sixteen valves. A 4-speed Automatic CVT Transaxle puts the power of the engine to the pavement. This is a long-standing favorite for buyers in the Sedan arena.

The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are disc. Steering is handled through a power-steering rack-style configuration. The Camry uses power-assisted brakes, with 4-Wheel ABS support. Load balancing is provided by coil front springs and coil in the rear.

Vehicle Statistics

The Camry is 189.20 inches long, 71.70 inches wide, and 57.90 inches high. It has a wheelbase of 109.30 inches. It is able to seat 5 comfortably.

There is a 36,000 mile, 36 month warranty with this vehicle, including a powertrain warranty of 60,000/60 miles/months. This is normal for this price range.

The listed retail price in 2009 (MSRP) was $19,770, with a dealer invoice cost of $18,088. This price is on target the industry average price for a four-door Sedan.

Fuel Efficiency

The fuel system for the 2009 Camry is a traditional SFI, running on ELECTRIC/GAS fuel. The fuel is controlled by an electronic system and is a fuel-injected MFI design. The capacity of the fuel tank is 18.50 gallons.

The Camry Hybrid received a miles-per-gallon rating of twenty one in-city driving and thirty one when it came to highway driving. Being a electric/gas-powered green car, this was exceptional.

What We Think of the Toyota Camry

The 2008 model began the promise of the Toyota Camry. The 2009 expanded on this success and has proven to be a strong seller in most markets. Even with strong competition from other manufacturers Toyota hopes that the Camry Hybrid will continue to be a profitable vehicle.
