The Toyota Camry is a 4-door car available at your Toyota dealer. The Camry came in five configurations: Hybrid, XLE, SE, and Base. The Hybrid configuration is powered by the 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine, which makes 31 highway miles and 21 city. The Camry competes in the Sedan market segment, in direct competition with Kia.

2008 Toyota Camry Hybrid Specs

Standard equipment in the Camry for 2007 and 2008 includes the 2.4 liter engine by Toyota, weighing in at 4 cylinders and sixteen valves. A 4-speed Automatic CVT Transaxle puts the power of the engine to the pavement. The has proven to be a popular configuration for the Camry.

The fuel system for the 2008 Camry is a traditional SFI, running on ELECTRIC/GAS fuel. The fuel is controlled by an electronic system and is a fuel-injected MFI design. The capacity of the fuel tank is 18.50 gallons.

Steering control is handled through a power-steering rack-style configuration. The Camry comes equipped with power-assisted brakes, with 4-Wheel ABS support. The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are disc. The car uses coil front springs and coil in the rear.

The dimensions of the Camry Hybrid are 71.70 inches wide by 189.20 inches long. It sits 57.90 inches off the ground. It seats a standard five passengers, with 4 doors. The wheelbase of 109.30 allows for extra leg room for the rear passengers.

The original manufacturer suggested retail price (MSRP) was $19,620 when new, with a dealer invoice cost of $17,951. This price was in line with the industry average price for a 4-door Sedan.

The standard warranty period for the Camry is 36 months, or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first. There is also a warranty on the powertrain for 60 months or 60,000 miles respectively. This is standard in the sedan market.

Fuel Efficiency

The 2008 Camry gets 31 miles/gallon on the highway and only 21 in the city. This is below average for a sedan car.

What We Think of the Toyota Camry

The 2007 model began the promise of the Toyota Camry. The 2008 expanded on this success and has proven to be a strong seller in most markets. Even with strong competition from other manufacturers Toyota hopes that the Camry Hybrid will continue to be a profitable vehicle.
