A Better 2008′s Model: The Lexus GS450h for 2009
A high point in the sedan market is the Lexus GS450h. In 2009 Lexus rolled out an upgraded version of the GS450h with one versions: Base. Sales for the GS450h, especially the GS450h Base, were brisk during 2009 and 2010. The improved reliability and the sporty styling were responsible for the increased interest.
Under the Hood
The restyled GS450h Base is equipped with a 3.5-liter six-cylinder engine that utilizes 24 valves. The engine is mated to a N/A four-speed transmission. This has resulted in an increase in horsepower and torque over the 2008 version.
The GS450h uses power-assisted brakes, with 4-Wheel ABS support. The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are disc. Steering is handled through a power-steering rack-style configuration. The car uses coil and coil springs front and rear respectively.

The GS450h is 186.20 inches long, 72.60 inches wide, and 66.10 inches high. It has a wheelbase of 106.90 inches. It is able to seat 5 comfortably.
The listed retail price in 2009 (MSRP) was $37,500, with a dealer invoice cost of $33,188. This price is on target the industry average price for a four-door Sedan.
Fuel Efficiency
The fuel system for the 2009 GS450h is a traditional SFI, running on ELECTRIC/GAS fuel. The fuel is controlled by an electronic system and is a fuel-injected MFI design. The capacity of the fuel tank is 19.20 gallons.
The GS450h Base received a miles-per-gallon rating of eighteen in-city driving and twenty three when it came to highway driving. Being a electric/gas-powered green car, this was within normal parameters.
What We Think of the Lexus GS450h
There are several reasons why the Lexus GS450h Base sold well in 2009. Mainly the increase in availability and a marked improvement in quality meant the buying public was more apt to choose a Lexus, specifically a GS450h.
