The Chevrolet Express 1500 LT for 2009

In 2009 Chevrolet released the Express 1500 LT to the van-buying market. The Express 1500 came in three configurations: LT, LS, and Base. The LT configuration is powered by the 5.3-liter eight-cylinder engine, which makes 23 highway miles and 17 city. The Express 1500 competes in the Standard Passenger Van market segment, in direct competition with Toyota.

Chevrolet Express 1500 Engine Specs

The Express 1500 LT is equipped with a General Motors 5.3 liter eight-cylinder engine that utilizes 16 valves. The Vortec engine is mated to a General Motors 4-speed Transmission. This is a long-standing favorite for buyers in the Standard Passenger Van arena.

The Express 1500 uses power-assisted brakes, with 4-Wheel ABS support. The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are disc. Steering is handled through a power-steering rack-style configuration. The van uses coil and leaf springs front and rear respectively.

The fuel system for the 2009 Express 1500 is a traditional SFI, running on FLEX fuel. The fuel is controlled by an electronic system and is a fuel-injected MFI design. The capacity of the fuel tank is 12 gallons.

Vehicle Statistics

The Express 1500 is inches long, inches wide, and inches high. It has a wheelbase of inches. It is able to seat several adults comfortably.

The standard warranty period for the Express 1500 is 60* months, or 50,000* miles, whichever comes first. The warranty also includes a warranty on the drivetrain for 36* months or 50,000* miles respectively. This is standard in the standard passenger van market. Extended warranties are also available through the dealer.

The original manufacturer suggested retail price (MSRP) was an industry-high price when new, with a dealer invoice cost of an industry-high price. This price was in line with the industry average price for a 3-door Standard Passenger Van.

Fuel Efficiency

The 2009 Express 1500 gets 23 miles/gallon on the highway and only 17 in the city. This is exceptional for a standard passenger van van.

In 2008 and 2009 the Express 1500 LT was availble in the exterior colors of several colors.

We Think...

The 2008 model began the promise of the Chevrolet Express 1500. The 2009 expanded on this success and has proven to be a strong seller in most markets. Even with strong competition from other manufacturers Chevrolet hopes that the Express 1500 LT will continue to be a profitable vehicle.
