The Ford F-150 XLT for 1995: Improving on 1994

Buyers of the Ford F-150 are aware of the reputation of the truck they are purchasing. The F-150 has been one of the premier vehicles of the Ford line for years. It is considered an institution of a truck and the 1995 model is no exception. The Ford F-150 falls into the standard cab pickup for the family category. People who purchase the F-150 have been doing so for the last few generations in a family. It is a constant that only gets better with age.

Engine Performance

The F-150 XLT is equipped with a Ford 4.9 liter six-cylinder engine that utilizes 12 valves. The engine is mated to a Ford 3-speed Transmission. This configuration has proven to be a successful design for Ford.

Steering control is handled through a power-steering gear-style configuration. The F-150 has power-assisted brakes, with 2-Wheel ABS support. The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are drum. The truck uses coil front springs and leaf in the rear.

F-150 XLT Statistics

The F-150 is 213.30 inches long, 79.00 inches wide, and 73.70 inches high. It has a wheelbase of 133.00 inches. It is able to seat 3 comfortably.

The listed retail price in 1995 (MSRP) was $16,485, with an invoice cost of an industry-low price. This price is slightly higher than the industry average price for a two-door Standard Cab Pickup.

Fuel Efficiency

The fuel system for the 1995 F-150 is a EFI design, running on BI-FUEL fuel. The fuel flow is regulated by a electronic system and is a fuel-injected MFI design. The storage capacity of the fuel tank is 37.20 gallons.

The F-150 XLT received a miles-per-gallon rating of fifteen in-city driving and 18 - 19 when it came to long-distance. Being a bi-fuel-powered hybrid truck, this was subpar.

Conclusion

The 1995 model year was unsuccessful for the Ford F-150. The introduction of several trim levels (along with the XLT version) meant that buyers had several options to choose from..
