Insight Into the Ford F-150 for 2002

A high point in the crew cab pickup market is the Ford F-150. In 2002 Ford released an upgraded version of the F-150 with six versions: XLT, Harley-Davidson Edition, Lightning, King Ranch, and Lariat. Sales for the F-150, especially the F-150 King Ranch, were brisk during 2002 and 2003. The improved reliability and the sporty styling were responsible for the sales boost.
Ford F-150 Engine Specs
Standard equipment in the F-150 for 2001 and 2002 includes the 5.4 liter engine by Ford, weighing in at 8 cylinders and sixteen valves. A 4-speed Automatic Transmission puts the power of the Triton engine to the pavement. This is a long-standing favorite for buyers in the Crew Cab Pickup arena.
The F-150 uses power-assisted brakes, with 4-Wheel ABS support. The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are disc. Steering is handled through a power-steering gear-style configuration. The truck uses coil and leaf springs front and rear respectively.
The fuel system for the 2002 F-150 is a SFI system, running on BI-FUEL . The fuel is controlled by an electronic system and is a fuel-injected MFI design. The 25.00-gallon tank provides the fuel storage for longer trips.
Vehicle Statistics
The F-150 is 206.90 inches long, 79.30 inches wide, and 72.70 inches high. It has a wheelbase of 119.90 inches. It is able to seat 3 comfortably.
The standard warranty period for the F-150 is 36 months, or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first. This is standard in the crew cab pickup market.
The original manufacturer suggested retail price (MSRP) was $19,550 when new, with a dealer invoice cost of $17,309. This price was in line with the industry average price for a 4-door Crew Cab Pickup.
MPG Ratings
The F-150 King Ranch received a miles-per-gallon rating of 15 - 17 in-city driving and 19 - 21 when it came to highway driving. Being a bi-fuel-powered green truck, this was exceptional.
In 2001 and 2002 the F-150 King Ranch was availble in the exterior colors of Arizona Beige Metallic, Black, Bright Red, Dark Highland Green Metallic, Dark Shadow Gray Metallic, Oxford White Metallic, Silver Metallic, Toreador Red Metallic, and True Blue Metallic.
We Think...
The 2001 model began the promise of the Ford F-150. The 2002 expanded on this success and has proven to be a strong seller in most markets. Even with strong competition from other manufacturers Ford hopes that the F-150 King Ranch will continue to be a profitable vehicle.

Hyundai? Really? I don’t see them as competition…
God, I need to sell my F-150. Nissan makes a cheaper crew cab pickup that I’m looking at.
