First Impressions of the Ford F-150 for 2006

A lot has been said about the Ford F-150 for 2006. As Ford's entry in the extended cab pickup market the F-150 (and in this case specically the FX4 version) has maintained a solid reputation. The 4-door F-150 is especially appealing to wide market segment, making it a perfect truck to help Ford as a brand in general.
Engine Performance
The F-150 FX4 is equipped with a Ford 5.4 liter eight-cylinder engine that utilizes 24 valves. The Triton engine is mated to a Ford 4-speed Transmission. This configuration has proven to be a successful design for Ford.
The F-150 uses power-assisted brakes, with 4-Wheel ABS support. The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are disc. Steering is handled through a power-steering rack-style configuration. The truck uses coil and leaf springs front and rear respectively.

The dimensions of the F-150 FX4 are 78.90 inches wide by inches long. It sits a comfortable inches off the ground. It seats a standard six passengers, with 4 doors. The wheelbase of allows for limited leg room for the backseat passengers.
The original manufacturer suggested retail price (MSRP) was $36,765 when new, with a dealer invoice cost of $32,611. This price was in line with the industry average price for a 4-door Extended Cab Pickup.
