A lot has been said about the Chevrolet Malibu for 2009. As Chevrolet's entry in the sedan market the Malibu (and in this case specically the Hybrid version) has maintained a solid reputation. The 4-door Malibu is especially appealing to wide market segment, making it a perfect car to help Chevrolet as a brand in general.

Performance

The restyled Malibu Hybrid is equipped with a General Motors 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine that utilizes a total of 16 valves. The Ecotec engine is paired with a General Motors 4-speed transaxle. This configuration has proven to be a successful design for Chevrolet.

The fuel system for the 2009 Malibu is a traditional SFI, running on ELECTRIC/GAS fuel. The fuel is controlled by an electronic system and is a fuel-injected MFI design. The capacity of the fuel tank is 12 gallons.

The Malibu uses power-assisted brakes, with 4-Wheel ABS support. The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are disc. Steering is handled through a power-steering rack-style configuration. The car uses coil and coil springs front and rear respectively.

The dimensions of the Malibu Hybrid are inches wide by inches long. It sits a comfortable inches off the ground. It seats a standard several adults passengers, with 4 doors. The wheelbase of allows for limited leg room for the backseat passengers.

The original manufacturer suggested retail price (MSRP) was an industry-high price when new, with a dealer invoice cost of an industry-high price. This price was in line with the industry average price for a 4-door Sedan.

The standard warranty period for the Malibu is 60* months, or 50,000* miles, whichever comes first. This is standard in the sedan market.

Fuel Efficiency

The 2009 Malibu gets 23 miles/gallon on the highway and only 17 in the city. This is exceptional for a sedan car.

Conclusion

The 2008 model began the promise of the Chevrolet Malibu. The 2009 expanded on this success and has proven to be a strong seller in most markets. Even with strong competition from other manufacturers Chevrolet hopes that the Malibu Hybrid will continue to be a profitable vehicle.
