The Chevrolet S10 ZR5 for 2002
There have been several award-winning trucks from Chevrolet over the years, including the Chevrolet S10 of 2002. There are five trim levels to the S10, including Xtreme, LS, ZR2, ZR5, and Base. The ZR5 version is one of the more popular options, outselling other configurations. Like in 2001 the popular 2.2 liter Vortec has made this a popular choice for crew cab pickup buyers nationwide.
2002 Chevrolet S10 ZR5 Specs
Standard equipment in the S10 for 2001 and 2002 includes the 2.2 liter engine by General Motors, weighing in at 4 cylinders and eight valves. A 4-speed Automatic Transmission puts the power of the Vortec engine to the pavement. The has proven to be a popular configuration for the S10.
The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are disc. Steering is handled through a power-steering gear-style configuration. The S10 uses power-assisted brakes, with 4-Wheel ABS support. Load balancing is provided by torsion bar front springs and leaf in the rear.
The fuel system for the 2002 S10 is a traditional SFI, running on FLEX fuel. The fuel is controlled by an electronic system and is a fuel-injected MFI design. The capacity of the fuel tank is 27.00 gallons.

The S10 is 189.80 inches long, 77.50 inches wide, and 75.00 inches high. It has a wheelbase of 111.20 inches. It is able to seat 8 comfortably.
The standard warranty period for the S10 is 36 months, or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first. This is standard in the crew cab pickup market.
The original manufacturer suggested retail price (MSRP) was $24,145 when new, with a dealer invoice cost of $21,851. This price was in line with the industry average price for a 4-door Crew Cab Pickup.
MPG Ratings
The S10 ZR5 received a miles-per-gallon rating of fifteen in-city driving and twenty when it came to highway driving. Being a flex-powered green truck, this was within normal parameters.

What We Think of the Chevrolet S10
The 2001 model began the promise of the Chevrolet S10. The 2002 expanded on this success and has proven to be a strong seller in most markets. Even with strong competition from other manufacturers Chevrolet hopes that the S10 ZR5 will continue to be a profitable vehicle.

I saw the recent news about Chevrolets and their reliability. I personally would check out web sites like edmunds.com and others before I made a choice of a truck like the S10.
