Insight Into the Ford Escape for 2007

There have been several award-winning trucks from Ford over the years, including the Ford Escape of 2007. There are four trim levels to the Escape, including Hybrid, Limited, XLS, and XLT. The Hybrid version is one of the more popular options, outselling other configurations. Like in 2006 the popular 2.3 liter Duratec has made this a popular choice for sport utility buyers across the country.
Ford Escape Engine Specs
The restyled Escape Hybrid is equipped with a 2.3-liter four-cylinder engine that utilizes 16 valves. The Duratec engine is mated to a Ford four-speed transaxle. This has resulted in an increase in horsepower and torque over the 2006 version.
The fuel system for the 2007 Escape is a traditional SFI, running on ELECTRIC/GAS fuel. The fuel is controlled by an electronic system and is a fuel-injected MFI design. The capacity of the fuel tank is 16.50 gallons.
Steering control is handled through a power-steering rack-style configuration. The Escape comes equipped with power-assisted brakes, with 4-Wheel ABS support. The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are disc. The truck uses coil front springs and coil in the rear.
Vehicle Statistics
The dimensions of the Escape Hybrid are 70.10 inches wide by 174.90 inches long. It sits 69.70 inches off the ground. It seats a standard five passengers, with 4 doors. The wheelbase of 103.10 allows for extra leg room for the rear passengers.
The original manufacturer suggested retail price (MSRP) was $23,130 when new, with a dealer invoice cost of $21,805. This price was in line with the industry average price for a 4-door Sport Utility.
The standard warranty period for the Escape is 36 months, or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first. There is also a warranty on the powertrain for 60 months or 60,000 miles respectively. This is standard in the sport utility market.
Fuel Efficiency
The Escape Hybrid received a miles-per-gallon rating of twenty in-city driving and twenty four when it came to highway driving. Being a electric/gas-powered green truck, this was exceptional.
We Think...
The 2006 model began the promise of the Ford Escape. The 2007 expanded on this success and has proven to be a strong seller in most markets. Even with strong competition from other manufacturers Ford hopes that the Escape Hybrid will continue to be a profitable vehicle.
