The Ford E-150 XL for 2009: Improving on 2008

The E-150 XL is equipped with a Ford 4.6 liter eight-cylinder engine that utilizes 16 valves. The Triton engine is mated to a Ford 4-speed Transmission. This configuration has proven to be a successful design for Ford.

Steering control is handled through a power-steering gear-style configuration. The E-150 comes equipped with power-assisted brakes, with 4-Wheel ABS support. The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are disc. The van uses coil front springs and leaf in the rear.

The fuel system for the 2009 E-150 is a traditional SFI, running on FLEX fuel. The fuel is controlled by an electronic system and is a fuel-injected MFI design. The capacity of the fuel tank is 12 gallons.

The E-150 XL received a miles-per-gallon rating of seventeen in-city driving and twenty three when it came to highway driving. Being a flex-powered green van, this was exceptional.

The 2008 model began the promise of the Ford E-150. The 2009 expanded on this success and has proven to be a strong seller in most markets. Even with strong competition from other manufacturers Ford hopes that the E-150 XL will continue to be a profitable vehicle.

    There’s no doubt that Ford is up to it’s old tricks with the E-150? I’m hoping next year’s example is improved.
