In 2009 Ford released the Escape Limited Hybrid to the truck-buying market. The Escape came in five configurations: Hybrid, Limited Hybrid, XLS, and XLT. The Limited Hybrid configuration is powered by the 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, which makes 23 highway miles and 17 city. The Escape competes in the Sport Utility market segment, in direct competition with Lexus.
The Silverado 1500 Base is equipped with a General Motors 5.3 liter eight-cylinder engine that utilizes 16 valves. The Vortec engine is mated to a New Venture 5-speed Transmission. This configuration has proven to be a successful design for Chevrolet.
There have been several award-winning trucks from Ford over the years, including the Ford Escape of 2007. There are four trim levels to the Escape, including Hybrid, Limited, XLS, and XLT. The Hybrid version is one of the more popular options, outselling other configurations. Like in 2006 the popular 2.3 liter Duratec has made this a popular choice for sport utility buyers across the country.

Sales for the Escape, especially the Escape Hybrid, were brisk during 2007 and 2008. The improved vehicle quality and the classic styling were responsible for the sales boost.
