Several things can be said about the Chevrolet Suburban 1500 series: including the polarizing reactions most buyers have towards their truck. The eight-cylinder engine is at the heart of the strong emotions, it is powerful for its class and delivers a large amount of torque.

Under the Hood

The restyled Suburban 1500 Z71 is equipped with a 5.3-liter eight-cylinder engine that utilizes 16 valves. The Vortec engine is mated to a General Motors four-speed transmission. This has resulted in an increase in horsepower and torque over the 2003 version.

The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are disc. Steering is handled through a power-steering gear-style configuration. The Suburban 1500 uses power-assisted brakes, with 4-Wheel ABS support. Load balancing is provided by torsion bar front springs and coil in the rear.
