The Chevrolet Tahoe LT for 2005

Chevrolet Tahoe

The restyled Tahoe LT is equipped with a 5.3-liter eight-cylinder engine that utilizes 16 valves. The Vortec engine is mated to a General Motors four-speed transmission. This has resulted in an increase in horsepower and torque over the 2004 version.

The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are disc. Steering is handled through a power-steering gear-style configuration. The Tahoe uses power-assisted brakes, with 4-Wheel ABS support. Load balancing is provided by torsion bar front springs and coil in the rear.

Statistics

The Tahoe is 198.80 inches long, 78.80 inches wide, and 74.80 inches high. It has a wheelbase of 116.00 inches. It is able to seat 6 comfortably.

There is a 36,000 mile, 36 month warranty with this vehicle, including a powertrain warranty of 36,000/36 miles/months. This is normal for this price range.

The original manufacturer suggested retail price (MSRP) was $35,915 when new, with a dealer invoice cost of $31,426. This price was in line with the industry average price for a 4-door Sport Utility.

Fuel Efficiency

The fuel system for the 2005 Tahoe is a SFI design, using FLEX fuel. The fuel flow is controlled by a electronic system and is a fuel-injected MFI design. The fuel capacity of the fuel tank is 26.00 gallons.

The 2005 Tahoe gets 19 - 20 miles/gallon on the highway and only 15 - 16 in the city. This is below average for a sport utility truck.

Parting Shots

The 2004 model began the promise of the Chevrolet Tahoe. The 2005 expanded on this success and has proven to be a strong seller in most markets. Even with strong competition from other manufacturers Chevrolet hopes that the Tahoe LT will continue to be a profitable vehicle.
