A high point in the sport utility market is the Chevrolet Tahoe. In 2008 Chevrolet rolled out an upgraded version of the Tahoe with four versions: Hybrid, LS, LT, and LTZ. Sales for the Tahoe, especially the Tahoe LT, were brisk during 2008 and 2009. The improved reliability and the updated styling were responsible for the increased interest.

Standard equipment in the Tahoe for 2007 and 2008 includes the 5.3 liter engine by General Motors, weighing in at 8 cylinders and sixteen valves. A 4-speed Automatic Transmission puts the power of the Vortec engine to the pavement. The has proven to be a popular configuration for the Tahoe.

The fuel system for the 2008 Tahoe is a traditional SFI, running on FLEX fuel. The fuel is controlled by an electronic system and is a fuel-injected MFI design. The capacity of the fuel tank is 26.00 gallons.

The dimensions of the Tahoe LT are 79.00 inches wide by 202.00 inches long. It sits 76.90 inches off the ground. It seats a standard six passengers, with 4 doors. The wheelbase of 116.00 allows for extra leg room for the rear passengers.

The standard warranty period for the Tahoe is 36 months, or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first. There is also a warranty on the powertrain for 60 months or 100,000 miles respectively. This is standard in the sport utility market.

The original manufacturer suggested retail price (MSRP) was $34,630 when new, with a dealer invoice cost of $31,686. This price was in line with the industry average price for a 4-door Sport Utility.

MPG Ratings

The Tahoe LT received a miles-per-gallon rating of 15 - 16 in-city driving and 20 - 21 when it came to highway driving. Being a flex-powered green truck, this was within normal parameters.

The vehicle is available in Black, Blue Granite Metallic, Deep Ruby Metallic, Dark Blue Metallic, Gold Mist Metallic, Graystone Metallic, Silver Birch Metallic, Summit White, and White Diamond.

The 2007 model began the promise of the Chevrolet Tahoe. The 2008 expanded on this success and has proven to be a strong seller in most markets. Even with strong competition from other manufacturers Chevrolet hopes that the Tahoe LT will continue to be a profitable vehicle.
