First Impressions of the Ford Crown Victoria for 2000

A lot has been said about the Ford Crown Victoria for 2000. As Ford's entry in the sedan market the Crown Victoria (and in this case specically the Base version) has maintained a solid reputation. The 4-door Crown Victoria is especially appealing to wide market segment, making it a perfect car to help Ford as a brand in general.
Performance
The Crown Victoria Base is equipped with a Ford 4.6 liter eight-cylinder engine that utilizes 16 valves. The engine is mated to a Ford 4-speed Transmission. This configuration has proven to be a successful design for Ford.
The Crown Victoria uses power-assisted brakes, with 4-Wheel ABS support. The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are disc. Steering is handled through a power-steering gear-style configuration. The car uses coil and coil springs front and rear respectively.
The fuel system for the 2000 Crown Victoria is a SFI design, running on CNG fuel. The fuel flow is regulated by a electronic system and is a fuel-injected MFI design. The storage capacity of the fuel tank is 19.00 gallons.
Vehicle Statistics
The Crown Victoria is 212.00 inches long, 78.20 inches wide, and 56.80 inches high. It has a wheelbase of 114.70 inches. It is able to seat 6 comfortably.
The standard warranty period for the Crown Victoria is 36 months, or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first. The warranty also includes a warranty on the drivetrain for 36 months or 36,000 miles respectively. This is standard in the sedan market. Extended warranties are also available through the dealer.
The original manufacturer suggested retail price (MSRP) was $22,195 when new, with a dealer invoice cost of $20,673. This price was in line with the industry average price for a 4-door Sedan.
Fuel Efficiency
The 2000 Crown Victoria gets 25 miles/gallon on the highway and only 18 in the city. This is exceptional for a sedan car.
In 1999 and 2000 the Crown Victoria Base was availble in the exterior colors of Black Clearcoat, Deep Wedgewood Blue Clearcoat Metallic, Harvest Gold Clearcoat Metallic, Light Blue Clearcoat Metallic, Medium Gray Clearcoat Metallic, Silver Frost Clearcoat Metallic, Spruce Green Clearcoat Metallic, Toreador Red Clearcoat Metallic, Tropic Green Clearcoat Metallic, and Vibrant White Clearcoat.
We Think...
The 1999 model began the promise of the Ford Crown Victoria. The 2000 expanded on this success and has proven to be a strong seller in most markets. Even with strong competition from other manufacturers Ford hopes that the Crown Victoria Base will continue to be a profitable vehicle.
