Not Your Father’s Crown Victoria - The 1997 Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor

A high point in the sedan market is the Ford Crown Victoria. In 1997 Ford rolled out an upgraded version of the Crown Victoria with four versions: Police Interceptor, LX, Base, and S. Sales for the Crown Victoria, especially the Crown Victoria Police Interceptor, were brisk during 1997 and 1998. The improved reliability and the updated styling were responsible for the increased interest.
Stop and Go
The restyled Crown Victoria Police Interceptor is equipped with a 4.6-liter eight-cylinder engine that utilizes 16 valves. The engine is mated to a Ford four-speed transmission. This has resulted in an increase in horsepower and torque over the 1996 version.
Steering control is handled through a power-steering gear-style configuration. The Crown Victoria comes equipped with power-assisted brakes, with Non-ABS support. The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are disc. The car uses coil front springs and coil in the rear.

The Crown Victoria Police Interceptor received a miles-per-gallon rating of seventeen in-city driving and twenty five when it came to highway driving. Being a cng-powered green car, this was within normal parameters.
Parting Shots
The 1996 model began the promise of the Ford Crown Victoria. The 1997 expanded on this success and has proven to be a strong seller in most markets. Even with strong competition from other manufacturers Ford hopes that the Crown Victoria Police Interceptor will continue to be a profitable vehicle.
