The Chevrolet Uplander Base for 2008

Chevrolet Uplander

The Uplander Base is equipped with a General Motors 3.9 liter six-cylinder engine that utilizes 12 valves. The engine is mated to a General Motors 4-speed Transaxle. This configuration has proven to be a successful design for Chevrolet.

The Uplander uses power-assisted brakes, with 4-Wheel ABS support. The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are disc. Steering is handled through a power-steering rack-style configuration. The van uses coil and coil springs front and rear respectively.

Uplander Base Statistics

The Uplander is 204.30 inches long, 72.00 inches wide, and 72.00 inches high. It has a wheelbase of 121.10 inches. It is able to seat 3 comfortably.

The standard warranty period for the Uplander is 36 months, or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first. The warranty also includes a warranty on the drivetrain for 60 months or 100,000 miles respectively. This is standard in the mini cargo van market. Extended warranties are also available through the dealer.

The listed retail price in 2008 (MSRP) was $22,730, with an invoice cost of $21,253. This price is above average of the industry average price for a four-door Mini Cargo Van.

Fuel Efficiency

The fuel system for the 2008 Uplander is a traditional SFI, running on FLEX fuel. The fuel is controlled by an electronic system and is a fuel-injected MFI design. The capacity of the fuel tank is 25.00 gallons.

The 2008 Uplander gets 23 miles/gallon on the highway and only 16 in the city. This is exceptional for a mini cargo van van.

Conclusion

There are several reasons why the Chevrolet Uplander Base sold well in 2008. Mainly the increase in availability and a marked improvement in quality meant the buying public was more apt to choose a Chevrolet, specifically a Uplander.

Will this model still be produced now that GM has gone bust? There are new Chinese cars on the market of similar statistics that cost about a half what this would.
