First Impressions 2008 Chevrolet Uplander LT

In 2008 Chevrolet released the Uplander LT to the van-buying market. The Uplander came in three configurations: LS, LT, and Base. The LT configuration is powered by the 3.9-liter six-cylinder engine, which makes 23 highway miles and 16 city. The Uplander competes in the Mini Passenger Van market segment, in direct competition with Kia.
Chevrolet Uplander Engine Specs
The Uplander LT is equipped with a General Motors 3.9 liter six-cylinder engine that utilizes 12 valves. The engine is mated to a General Motors 4-speed Transaxle. This configuration has proven to be a successful design for Chevrolet.
Steering control is handled through a power-steering rack-style configuration. The Uplander has power-assisted brakes, with 4-Wheel ABS support. The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are disc. The van uses coil front springs and coil in the rear.
Vehicle Statistics
The dimensions of the Uplander LT are 72.00 inches wide by 204.30 inches long. It sits a comfortable 72.00 inches off the ground. It seats a standard three passengers, with 4 doors. The wheelbase of 121.10 allows for limited leg room for the backseat passengers.
The original manufacturer suggested retail price (MSRP) was $22,730 when new, with a dealer invoice cost of $21,253. This price was in line with the industry average price for a 4-door Mini Passenger Van.
Fuel Efficiency
The fuel system for the 2008 Uplander is a SFI design, running on FLEX fuel. The fuel flow is regulated by a electronic system and is a fuel-injected MFI design. The storage capacity of the fuel tank is 25.00 gallons.
The Uplander LT received a miles-per-gallon rating of sixteen in-city driving and twenty three when it came to long-distance. Being a flex-powered hybrid van, this was exceptional.
We Think...
The 2007 model began the promise of the Chevrolet Uplander. The 2008 expanded on this success and has proven to be a strong seller in most markets. Even with strong competition from other manufacturers Chevrolet hopes that the Uplander LT will continue to be a profitable vehicle.
