A lot has been said about the Toyota Prius for 2008. As Toyota's entry in the hatchback market the Prius (and in this case specically the Base version) has maintained a solid reputation. The 4-door Prius is especially appealing to wide market segment, making it a perfect car to help Toyota as a brand in general.
The 2005 Prius is an important vehicle to Toyota for the hatchback market segment. The Base is a member of a series of one trim levels for the Prius which include Base. The four-door car with its front-wheel drive is positioned to aggressively fill this niche for Toyota. There is strong competition from vehicles from Acura.
Several things can be said about the Toyota Prius series: including the polarizing reactions most buyers have towards their car. The four-cylinder engine is at the heart of the strong emotions, it is powerful for its class and delivers a large amount of torque.
The Prius Base is equipped with a Toyota 1.5 liter four-cylinder engine that utilizes 16 valves. The engine is mated to a N/A 4-speed Transaxle. This configuration has proven to be a successful design for Toyota.
