There are six trim levels to the F-150, including Lightning, XLT, King Ranch, Lariat, and Harley-Davidson Edition. The XLT version is one of the more popular options. Like in 2002 the popular 5.4 liter Triton has made this a popular choice for standard cab pickup buyers around the world.

A lot has been said about the Ford F-150 for 2006. As Ford's entry in the extended cab pickup market the F-150 (and in this case specically the XLT version) has maintained a good reputation. The 4-door F-150 is especially appealing to wide market segment, making it a perfect truck to help Ford as a brand in general.

The restyled F-150 XLT is equipped with a 4.9-liter six-cylinder engine that utilizes 12 valves. The engine is mated to a Ford four-speed transmission. This has resulted in an increase in horsepower and torque over the 1995 version.
